About the Department
Located in state-of-the-art facilities in the historic riverfront area of the vibrant city of Columbus, the Department of Art offers rigorous programs of study that guide students toward becoming creative professionals in their field in Studio Art, Art Education, Graphic Design, Animation, or Art History. Students in Studio Art choose a focus in Book Arts and Printmaking, Ceramics, Narrative Illustration, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Sculpture and Expanded Media, Animation, or Graphic Design. Visiting artists and scholars are regularly in residence and lead workshops or teach courses in topics related to their artistic and scholarly work. Everything that is offered in the Department -- a rich selection of courses, exhibitions, in-depth critiques, workshops and lectures – is orchestrated to expose our gifted students to an incredibly rich array of different perspectives and creates an intense environment designed to foster future, successful careers for our graduates. The Department has earned full professional accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
