Facilities

Our outstanding facilities help us prepare students to become leaders in the arts and provide faculty and visitors with opportunities to develop and share their most recent creative and scholarly achievements. Our facilities provide a focal point for the community, contributing to the development of creative and cultural capital in the region.

Corn Center for the Visual Arts

The Corn Center for the Visual Arts is the creative center of the Department of Art and houses the Norman Shannon and Emmy Lou P. Illges Gallery. The Corn Center was readapted from a historic cotton warehouse. Elevated ceilings, large windows and skylights, open spaces, and dedicated purpose-built labs and studios make the Corn Center highly conducive to the creative process. The Corn Center fronts on Woodruff Park, RiverWalk and the Chattahoochee River. The award-winning structure also houses the Riverside Theatre Complex and is future home to the Bo Bartlett Center.

The Yancey Center at One Arsenal Place

The Yancey Center houses faculty and administrative offices of the Department of Art, as well as a general purpose art computer lab, the Graphic Design Studio, and an Art Education classroom. The North Shed location of the Yancey Center houses our brand new Animation Studio. The Yancey Center was readapted from a former Cannon Foundry. The College of the Arts administrative office suite is in Yancey Center. It also houses Theatre and Dance Studios and classrooms.

Seaboard Depot Art Studios

The historic building originally called the Seaboard Air Line Railway Freight Depot was built in 1902 to serve the riverfront mills and warehouses. With support from the Mildred Miller Fort Foundation and others, the Depot was renovated for the Department of Art. The Depot is home to individual art studios for faculty and advanced and senior art students. The Depot’s ArtLab Gallery presents public exhibitions. The Depot is home to the Art History program with a Study Room and Lecture Hall.
