Biography

Bret Lefler currently resides in Columbus, Georgia and serves as The Art Education Program Coordinator at Columbus State University where he teaches art and art education classes.  He received his BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, his MFA from Texas Christian University and his Ph.D. from Florida State University.  

He is the recipient of several Awards including the Georgia Art Education Association Higher Education 2013 Teacher of the Year, The 2018 Georgia Art Education Association Distinguished Service Award and the 2018 National Art Education Recognition for Exemplary Service within the Profession.

As an artist Bret works in a wide variety of media, but his primary focus has always centered around painting and drawing. His work reflects his interests in the ideas and components that make up our common lived experiences and how we often interpret and reinterpret imagery to discover and reconstruct new meaning within our visual environment.
