Admission to Teacher Education

All initial certification students seeking admission to the teacher education program in the College of Education and Health Professions at Columbus State University (CSU) should begin the process as early as possible based on the program and advisor recommendations.

There are four steps to complete before you can begin a teacher education program.

  1. Apply to CSU as an undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, or graduate (M.A.T.) student.
  2. Register for a MyPSC account and the gather admission criteria outlined for your degree type below on this page.
  3. Carefully read the requirements outlined for each degree type (on this page), as some requirements will need to be met before the admission to teacher education application is filled out and submitted.  Apply to the Teacher Education program by completing the Admission to Teacher Education Application in Tk20. Instructions on how to complete the application in Tk20 are on this page.
  4. Once you are notified that your application in Tk20 has been approved pending GaPSC certification, you'll need to log into your MyPSC account and claim enrollment at CSU.  Then Apply for a Pre-Service certificate (PDF) by completing the GaPSC’s Pre-Service Application and submit it in MyPSC.

More information about the Teacher Education program can be found in the Teacher Education Handbook (PDF). Note that in order to apply to any teacher education program, you cannot have been removed or denied admission to teacher education or student teaching from another institution. Failure to disclose information and/or submission of false information at any point in the process will result in immediate dismissal from the College of Education and Health Professions Teacher Education Program.
