The organizational structures of Columbus State University, the College of Education and Health Professions, and the professional education unit are briefly described below.

Organization of the University

Columbus State University is organized into the following five colleges:

  1. College of the Arts
  2. College of Education and Health Professions
  3. College of Letters and Sciences
  4. Turner College of Business & Technology
  5. Honors College

Each college is directed by a Dean who reports to the Provost/Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. Department Chairs report to the Dean of the College. Graduate programs are housed within the colleges.

Organization of the College of Education and Health Professions (COEHP)

 The College of Education and Health Professions (COEHP) is organized into the following departments and school:

  1. Kinesiology and Health Sciences
  2. School of Nursing 
  3. Teacher Education, Leadership, and Counseling

Each department is headed by a Department Chair/Director, all of whom report to the Dean of the College.

Several academic enrichment centers support our efforts to have an impact on students and the community. These centers include the Center for Quality Teaching and Learning, the Coca-Cola Space Science Center, the Columbus Regional Mathematics Collaborative, the Ivey Center for the Cultural Approach to History, Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, and the Center for Reading Instruction, Support, and Education. Each of these centers provides invaluable service to the region and opportunities for students in our programs to enhance their professional skills as they engage with the community. The Center Directors report to the Dean of the College.

Organization of the Professional Education Unit

The professional education unit includes programs housed in the College of Education and Health Professions (COEHP), the College of Letters and Sciences (COLS), the College of the Arts (COA), and the Turner College of Business & Technology.  In addition, two programs offer coursework through Georgia On My Line (GOML) Distance Education Collaborative.  GOML is a collaborative of institutions within the University of Georgia System.

The COLS offers Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL); Spanish Education; initial secondary education programs in English, History, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science; and Mathematics.

The COA houses programs in Music Education, Art Education, and Theatre Education.

The Computer Science Endorsement Program is housed in the Turner College of Business & Technology.

The M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in Accomplished Teaching (online) includes coursework taught through the GOML Distance Education Collaborative, specifically Georgia Southern University and Valdosta State University.

Other educator preparation programs are housed in the COEHP. In addition to educator preparation programs, the COEHP houses programs in Exercise Science, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Health Sciences, and Nursing.
