To ensure that the living on campus experience is safe and enjoyable for all students,
residents are responsible for ensuring that they read, understand, and follow the
expectations and policies within the current Residence Life Community Guide and the
Columbus State University Student Handbook. All residents, visitors / guests of residents, and staff are expected to abide by
these guidelines / handbooks and were created to ensure a standard of behavior that
promotes positive relationships with others in our closes connected communities.

While CSU housing is fully furnished, there are certain things that will help to make
your apartment / bedroom a home away from home. We recommend that you communicate
with your roommate to decide who will bring shared items such as televisions, mini-refrigerators,
shower curtains, etc.

The following is a list of items that on-campus residents often find helpful. This
is NOT a list of required items, nor does it represent everything you might want or
Bath towels, soaps, bathrobe, etc, Bike and bike lock, First aid kit, Headphones,
Laptop computer or tablet, Laundry bag and detergent, Microwave (maximum 1 cubic feet
/ 700-watt maximum power), Mini refrigerator (maximum 5 cubic feet), one per bedroom,
Power strip/surge protector, Reading light, Shower curtain / hooks, Television / Steaming
Device, Trashcan, Twin XL Bedding, sheets, pillows, blankets, and an Umbrella.
To ensure the safety of all residents, certain items are prohibited from being in
all university housing. Students who are found in possession of any of these items
may be written up and placed through our Student Conduct Process. The below items
are not a collective list and residents should fully review the Residence Life Community
Antennas and satellite dishes, Appliances with open flame / heating coils and / or
poses an electrical-overload hazard, Candles / Incense, Coffee Makers with hot plate
bottom and no automatic shutoff, Deep Fryers, Extension Cords without a Surge Protector,
Foam Dart Guns or any projectile launcher, Halogen Light Bulbs / Lamps, Hotplates,
Items with exposed heating element, Lava Lamps, Light/LED strips, Live trees, grass,
straw, and sand, Multi-plug adapters, Outdoor grills (charcoal, propane, etc.), Paintball
Guns, Refrigerators larger than five cubic feet, Resident owned air conditioners,
Space Heaters, and Toaster Ovens.

while living on campus is one that they enjoy and cultivates an environment for students
