What is eCore?

eCore, short for electronic core curriculum, is a statewide collaborative program which enables students to earn core credits online while remaining enrolled at CSU. eCore utilizes GoVIEW to access courses. eCore courses are taught entirely online. However, some courses may require one or more proctored exams at a testing center, which may require an additional fee. eCore courses are designed, developed, taught and supported by faculty and staff from the USG. The eCore curriculum primarily consists of courses required during the first two years of college for a given degree. Not all core curriculum classes are available via eCore. For a complete list of courses offered through eCore, click the course descriptions link under useful links below.

Columbus State University has partnered with eCore to enhance and expand its online core curriculum offerings. Any admitted CSU student has the opportunity to register for these courses, but before registering there are a few things you must do first by following the steps on the registration tab below.

Step 1: Advisement

Get advised! If you haven't seen your Academic Advisor, contact them for assistance. Advising holds must be cleared before you can register for any courses. To find your advisor, visit the CSU ADVISE website.

Step 2: Introduction Quiz

Before being allowed to register, you must complete the eCore Introduction Quiz.

After successfully completing the quiz, you will receive an email notification outlining registration information. You should receive this notification within 48 hours of quiz completion.

Step 3: Register

Please Note: You will not immediately be able to register for an eCore course. You will not be able to register until after completing the eCore Introduction Quiz and receive an e-mail notification giving you permission to register from your advisor.

You may register for an eCore class through MyCSU once you have received notification of completing the orientation quiz. eCore adds sections based on demand. You may receive a "closed section" message, but should try to register for the class again after waiting a few minutes. Important: eCore does not necessarily follow the same academic calendar as CSU. The start date, end date, and withdrawal deadlines may differ.

Step 4: Welcome Letter

The eCore welcome and registration letter contains login instructions and information on purchasing your textbook. Watch for this letter which will be e-mailed to your CSU e-mail address about 2 weeks before classes start. This letter contains information on how to login, how to purchase textbooks, how to get help, and other important course information. It is important for you to try your login information before classes start, and that you make arrangements to have your course materials available before classes start.

Step 5: First Day of Classes

It is very important that you log into your eCore courses on the first day of class and make contact with your instructor.

GoVIEW is the University System of Georgia collaborative online course system, and is a complement to CougarVIEW, the online course system at Columbus State University. Since GoVIEW is operated as a collaborative, you may be enrolled in course sections along with students from other institutions in the University System of Georgia. As an online student at CSU, you may be taking some online courses that are hosted on GoVIEW, and others that are hosted on CougarVIEW depending on your online degree major and your level of progress in the program.

Login to GoVIEW

  • Your GoVIEW username is the first part of your CSU e-mail address (before, followed by _csu. Example: John Doe's email address is: so his GoVIEW username is: doe_john5_csu
  • Your password will be the same as your CougarVIEW password at the time your account was created. If your password does not work, use the 'Forgot Password' option to have a password reset e-mail sent to your institution e-mail address, then once you've reset your password, you can login to GoVIEW.
Note: Resetting your password through MyCSU will NOT change your GoVIEW password.
  • Once you log into your course, there is a drop-down menu on the blue menu bar at the top for Support. You can locate help resources including how to check your browser and contacts for technical support.
  • Please remember you will not have access to your courses until the first day of class. You will find this start date and other important dates on the GoVIEW Academic Calendar

Cost: $159 per credit hour

The tuition rate is the same for both Georgia resident and non-resident students. Additional fees might include textbooks, course materials, and exam proctoring charges. eCore only students are charged the institutional and technology fee.

CSU Online Courses

You must log in to your eCore class by the log in deadline (the earlier the better) and participate in the course by completing the eCore Mandatory Attendance Quiz, or you will be reported as non-attending by your instructor. If you are reported as non-attending, you may be withdrawn or dropped by your registrar's office.

If you are enrolled in more than one eCore class, you must complete the eCore Mandatory Attendance Quiz for each class you are enrolled this term.

To access the eCore Mandatory Attendance Quiz:

  • Login to your eCore class
  • Click on "Content" from the top navigation or the "Content Browser" in the middle of the course homepage
  • Click on the arrow next to "Syllabus and Start Items"
  • Click on "eCore Mandatory Attendance Quiz"

Please note: Instructors are not obligated to accept any excuse for course inactivity due to technical problems. It is your responsibility to report technical problems to the USG D2L Help Center as they occur or contact eCore Administrative Services at or 678-839-5300 or toll-free, 1-855-93ECORE (1-855-933-2673).

Exams in eCore classes work differently than exams in traditional, on-campus classes, because they require you to plan, schedule and pay (testing fees may vary) for any and all appointments at a testing center. Students and faculty should read and use the information on this site to ensure that the necessary midterms and final exams are completed successfully.

In order to measure learning outcomes in an objective, verifiable way, instructors will require students to take one or two exams at an authorized testing center, where students will be asked to present a photo ID.

All eCore midterm and final exams are administered online via GoVIEW. Any potential proctored test site must have computers with internet connection and a GoVIEW supported browser. Students are responsible for scheduling and reporting their exams by the posted deadline. Students are responsible for looking at the course syllabus during the beginning of the semester well in advance of the midterm and/or final to confirm when exams are scheduled and to then decide where to take the exam. Students are also responsible for being aware of the conditions and policies under which the exam will be proctored and administered.
