Online Tutoring Appointments
The ACT offers two types of online tutoring appointments. Choose the option that best fits your needs.
Asynchronous Online Writing Tutoring
For written feedback on papers
This option is for help with writing assignments only. You do not meet with a tutor live. Instead, the tutor reviews your paper and provides written comments.
What to expect:
- Not live — tutoring happens through written feedback
- Available for any course and any level
- Feedback is given directly in your document
Appointment length:
- 30 minutes: Up to 4 double-spaced pages
- 1 hour: Up to 8 double-spaced pages
- Longer papers may require multiple appointments
What you need:
- Use Microsoft Word 365
- Share your document link with editing permissions
- Read the Writing Appointment Instructions before scheduling
Live Online Tutoring Appointments
For real-time help in any subject
Live online tutoring is available for all subjects supported by the ACT, including writing.
What to expect:
- Meet live with a tutor
- Ask questions and get help in real time
- Share your materials during the session
How to join:
- Log into Accudemia
- Click Join at your appointment time
- Have your notes, assignments, or textbooks ready
Which Should I Choose?
- Choose Asynchronous Writing if you want detailed feedback on a paper.
- Choose Live Online Tutoring if you want to meet with a tutor and ask questions in real time.
Missed Appointments
Please visit our Policies page for details about this topic. If you know you are going to miss your appointment, you can call, email or use Accudemia to cancel to avoid being blocked from making future appointments. If you miss your appointment due to an emergency, please let us know as soon as possible.
Preparing for the Appointment
Login prior to your appointment start time and be prepared with any relevant instructions, textbooks, class notes, handouts, and so forth. The CSU library has laptops available for checkout for online appointments.
