Conditions of Award

Enrollment/Attendance - The dollar amounts offered on this notice are based upon full-time enrollment (12 or more hours for undergraduates/ 9 or more hours for graduates). Half-time enrollment is classified as 6 or more hours for undergraduatest/4 or more hours for graduates. Please see the enrollment requirement below for your award funds. Audited courses are not considered in the determination of hours for aid payment. You must attend all classes for which the financial aid payment is based. Pell recipients must be registered for classes by a specific deadline each term, provided in the academic calendar. The amount of funds received from these grants is based only upon enrollment as of this deadline.

  • Federal Work Study (FWS) - No minimum hours of enrollment required. Employment is not guaranteed but is based upon federal funding, available positions, and an interview. The awarded amount indicates the maximum earnings allowed each term. An unsatisfactory evaluation will result in termination in this program.
  • HOPE - No minimum hours of enrollment required. Students are checked every spring term and at 30, 60, and 90 attempted hours. In addition, part-time freshmen are checked after 3 terms. HOPE payments are contingent upon a 3.0 GPA at each of these checkpoints. The HOPE scholarship generally pays $147.00 per hr. up to 15 hours.
  • Loan Recipients - Federal loans (except Perkins) require half-time or more enrollment. Loan amounts are prorated for students with less than a full academic year of remaining coursework in their program. First-time recipients must complete loan entrance counseling and a promissory note to receive funds.
  • Pell Grant - No minimum hours of enrollment required. However, as enrollment hours decrease, the amount of Pell payment decreases.
  • Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant - No minimum hours of enrollment required.
  • TEACH Grant - Full-time enrollment allows for maximum payment of this grant. Part-time students are eligible, but the grant will be reduced.

For all other awards, please contact the Financial Aid Office for enrollment requirements.

Aid Disbursement - The earliest that excess funds are released is the end of the second week of the semester. During the semester, excess funds are released within 14 days from the date the credit balance is created. The method of payment is based upon the method selected by the student.

Withdrawals/Reductions in Coursework-Students receiving financial aid who withdraw or stop attending all classes are subject to the applicable federal, state or institutional refund policy. Recipients of grants or HOPE Scholarship who withdraw may be required to repay a portion of the funds received. Reduction in coursework may result in reduction of aid.
