Family Nurse Practitioner Program Authorizations
The MSN Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program meets the Georgia Board of Nursing (BON) educational requirements to prepare students for APRN licensure and prepares students to take the national Certified Nurse Practitioner (FNP) exam through the AANP-CP or the ANCC.
The FNP program is currently approved or exempt from approval, and meets the regulatory requirements to be offered to students who are physically present in the states below. We have determined our program curriculum meets the state educational requirements for APRN licensure or certification in these states.

* For Students Physically Present in IOWA: 655 Iowa Administrative Code 2.10(6) requires that we notify prospective students in Iowa that nursing courses with a clinical component may not be taken by a person:
- who has been denied licensure by the board.
- whose license is currently suspended, surrendered or revoked in any U.S. jurisdiction.
- whose license/registration is currently suspended, surrendered or revoked in another country due to disciplinary action.
The FNP program is currently approved or exempt from approval, and meets the regulatory requirements to be offered to students who are physically present in the states below. We have determined that our program curriculum does not meet the current state educational requirements for APRN licensure or certification in these states.
- Ohio: Our Pharmacology course does not meet the OH-BON instruction in state law requirements for Prescriptive Authority as established by ORC 4723.482(B)(5)(c) & (d)(iv). Specifically, our pharmacology course does not provide information on the OH state laws relevant to pharmacology and controlled substances. Please contact the OH-BON for information on alternative methods for meeting that requirement before enrolling in the program.
The FNP program cannot currently enroll students who are physically present in the following states. CSU has not made a determination as to whether its FNP program curriculum meets the state educational requirements for licensure or certification in these states. Each state licensing board establishes their own criteria for APRN licensure which, in addition to educational requirements, may include (but are not limited to) holding a state RN license, national FNP certification, background/fingerprint checks, applications and fees. The ability to be licensed as a NP in your state will be contingent upon your ability to meet the licensure criteria established by the state BON at the time you seek licensure. Clinicals: The ability to participate in clinical placements in your state is contingent on:
- clinical work taking place in an approved state,
- holding a current, unencumbered state RN license,
- your ability to secure a program approved clinical site and preceptor, and
- your ability to meet clinical document submission deadlines.
Accreditation: We currently offer two versions of the FNP program. The consortium program offered through the Georgia Intercollegiate Consortium Graduate Nursing Education (GICGNE), which is phasing out, and a new stand alone CSU program that started admitting students in Spring 2020. Each program offers the same curriculum and degree tracks. The GICGNE program is nationally accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing- Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The CSU program is currently seeking national accreditation by CCNE. The CSU FNP program expects to obtain CCNE accreditation by Spring 2022.
