About the Program

Improve lives by improving human health and wellness. Columbus State’s undergraduate program in kinesiology is preparing the next generation of fitness leaders ― creative and driven professionals who can address the needs of athletes, workers, and our aging population.

Rooted in science, the program’s curriculum covers biomechanics, motor learning, nutrition and performance, strength and conditioning, and much more. At CSU, you’ll learn in the classroom and through a variety of field experiences designed to put theory into practice and build hands-on skill.

Supplement your education and build your professional network by pursuing an internship or collaborative research project. As a kinesiology major, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with instructors one-on-one, pursue specific areas of interest, and get the support you need to succeed.

When you earn your Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, you’ll be prepared for a broad range of careers including:

  • Exercise program director
  • Corporate fitness and wellness instructor
  • Occupational/rehabilitation therapist
  • Health and nutrition educator

Exercise Science Concentration

Examine the physiological and psychological principles of human physical performance. Through a curriculum that blends exercise science theory and practice, you can explore a variety of interests and career goals - from nutrition to cardiac rehabilitation.

Explore all facets of health education as you study physical fitness science, sport coaching, and recreation. If you’re interested in teaching, the health and physical education concentration will prepare you for P-12 certification in both health and physical education.
