MGMT - Management

MGMT 3115. Management and Organizational Behavior (3-0-3)Prerequisite: Completion of the Lower Division Business Core (Areas A & F). Describes and analyzes the managerial functions of planning, organizing and controlling. It emphasizes the understanding and application of behavioral science to industrial society. Topics include motivation, leadership, workgroups, and organizational dynamics.

MGMT 3116. Team Based Project Management (3-0-3) Prerequisite: Junior standing. Application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations from a project including: scope, time, cost, and quality. Students work in a team environment with team networked software.

MGMT 3125. Production and Operations Management (3-0-3)Prerequisites: Completion of the Lower Division Business Core (Areas A & F) and BUSA 3111. A survey of the techniques used in the design and operation of manufacturing and service systems.

MGMT 3135. Human Resource Management (3-0-3) Prerequisite: MGMT 3115. Principles, practices and programs relevant to managing human resources in a modern organization.

MGMT 3137. Compensation and Benefits Administration (3-0-3)Prerequisite: MGMT 3115. Practices and principles employed to develop and administer integrated employee compensation and benefit plans.

MGMT 3145. Labor Economics (3-0-3) Equivalent Course: ECON 3145. Prerequisite: ECON 2106. Economic aspects of labor organizations, wage theory and applications of labor economics.

MGMT 3155. Business Ethics (3-0-3)Prerequisite: Junior Standing. Lecture/discussion of ethics concepts, frameworks, and issues. Debate/presentation of classical and recent cases involving ethical decisions and actions.

MGMT 4115. Advanced Organizational Behavior (3-0-3)Prerequisite: MGMT 3115. Managerial applications of the behavioral sciences as applied to modern organizations; individual, interpersonal, and group behaviors are studied using a psychological and sociological basis.

MGMT 4116. International Management (3-0-3)Prerequisite: MGMT 3115. Course enables students to develop a better understanding of the relationship between national culture and management theories, behaviors, and practices in a cross-national environment.

MGMT 4125. Management Science (3-0-3) Prerequisite: BUSA 3111. Applications of management science concepts to decision-making. Emphasis is placed on the linear programming problem and its various forms.

MGMT 4126. Quality Control and Statistical Techniques (3-0-3)Prerequisite: BUSA 3111. Design of quality control systems and statistical techniques for establishing product specifications, process controls, acceptance sampling, and other techniques of quality assurance.

MGMT 4135. Industrial Relations and Collective Bargaining (3-0-3) Prerequisite: MGMT 3115. An analysis of public policy and legislation directed at union-management relations including the development of a framework for collective bargaining. Case analysis of various labor relations issues is included.

MGMT 4165. Managerial Communication (3-0-3)Prerequisite: MGMT 3115. Develops writing, speaking, and listening skills that enhance managerial effectiveness. Analyzes the managerial communication implications of management and organizational behavior concepts.

MGMT 4899. Independent Study (3 hours) Prerequisites: MGMT Major and Senior Standing. Independent study in a selected area of business administration. Study will be directed by a faculty member representing the chosen area of specialization. Candidates must present a minimum 1500-word plan through the instructor to the office of the Dean for approval.
