Biography

Mr. Seymour holds the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in history from Jacksonville State University. He also has further graduate hours in archival studies and history from Auburn University. While teaching part-time at Columbus State, Mr. Seymour currently serves in several capacities at the National Civil War Museum, primarily as the Curator/Archivist and Historian. Mr. Seymour has contributed a number of articles for encyclopedias and on-line projects primarily concerning American Naval history, and contributes reviews of books about Civil War naval history. He is a regular speaker in a variety of venues on topics about the navies during the American Civil War. In 2012, he was the keynote speaker at the national convention for the Society of Civil War Surgeons. Mr. Seymour is also involved in conducting battlefield staff rides for military personnel at Fort Moore.
