At Columbus State University, dance isn’t limited to those pursuing it as a career - it’s for anyone who wants to explore movement, creativity, and expression while deepening their connection to the arts. The Dance Minor is designed to complement any major, offering students the opportunity to continue dancing, discover new forms, and grow as both artists and thinkers.
Why Minor in Dance at CSU?
Our program helps students develop discipline, creativity, and confidence - skills that translate far beyond the studio.You’ll learn to move with purpose, analyze dance within cultural and historical contexts, and express yourself artistically, while gaining valuable experience that supports a wide range of professional paths.
The 15-credit-hour minor is designed to fit seamlessly alongside any CSU major. With a combination of dance technique, choreography, history, and performance courses, students can balance academic and artistic pursuits.
Classes are offered at multiple levels in ballet, modern, and jazz, along with electives like Pilates, Tap, and Yoga. You’ll have opportunities to study with guest artists, attend masterclasses, and participate in workshops, all while building meaningful connections with peers and faculty.
Performance & Community
As a part of our dance program, you’ll be part of a vibrant, supportive community that celebrates collaboration over competition. Each semester, students perform in Riverside Theatre concerts, showcasing classical and contemporary works created by faculty, guest artists, and fellow students.
