Meet Our Students
Meet some of our multi-talented dance minors and students, and what they have to share about their experience in our program. All CSU students, regardless of major, are welcome to declare the dance minor.

Micaiah Byrd
Major: Theatre, B.F.A.
Minor: Dance
Hometown: Byron, GA
“I decided to become a dance minor because I’ve always loved dance but I really wanted to expand my skills, and hone my craft. As someone who aspires to do musical theatre, dance is something that I’m going to need to be able to do.”
“The professors here are very open, they’re very welcoming. They want anyone and everyone to dance.

Jasper Newborn
Major: Theatre, B.A.
Minor: Dance
Hometown: Newnan, GA
“I love dance. It keeps me fit and healthy, I’ve done it since I was 12 and I fell in love with it.”
“I really like how together everyone is in the dance program. Everyone supports each other and it’s not competitive at all, which I love. We’re all striving to be better versions of ourselves.”

Lylli Flanders
Major: Theatre, B.F.A.
Hometown: Skowhegan, ME
“Dancing helps every aspect of your life. It helps your health, especially your mental health. I always feel so good and proud of myself after I leave the classes. It’s a good outlet to help your body get stronger but also have fun. I’m going to leave CSU a lot more well-rounded.”
The dance minor requires 15 credit hours in dance technique, choreography, dance history and performance. The minor compliments many other areas of study at CSU, and can be managed in addition to pursuit of another academic major. View the Theatre Dance Minor Program of Study.
