Biography
Prior to entering higher education, Dr. Sarah W. Sharpe was an elementary classroom teacher, where she taught across multiple grade levels and developed a strong foundation in literacy instruction, mathematics instruction, assessment, and supporting diverse learners. Her classroom experience continues to inform her work with pre-service and in-service teachers.
Dr. Sharpe teaches a range of undergraduate and graduate teacher education courses focused on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and literacy development. Her professional interests include structured literacy, culturally responsive and asset-based teaching, metacognitive teaching, and effective preparation of future educators.
