Biography
I began my teaching career in 2007 as an elementary school teacher in my hometown
of Dalton, Georgia, with the Dalton Public Schools district. I stayed with the district
as an elementary school teacher for nine years, with most of those years spent teaching
kindergarten. In 2016 I accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Education at
Dalton State College, where I taught undergraduate students in the elementary education
program. There I initiated a partnership with two local school systems that resulted
in hands-on technology professional development for all elementary and secondary teacher
candidates. I also supervised undergraduate teacher candidates in their fieldwork,
planned and implemented a Career Fair/Interview Day for graduating seniors, and managed
all course scheduling for the department.
In 2018, I moved from Dalton State to my current role as Assistant Professor of Teacher
Leadership and coordinator of the Teacher Leadership MEd and Endorsement programs
at Columbus State. The following year I also took on the temporary role of Accreditation
Coordinator, in which I was tasked with leading the EPP through its national- and
state-level concurrent accreditation review. That temporary position became permanent
in September 2020 when my position shifted to Director of EPP Assessment. As Director,
I oversee the design, implementation, monitoring, and revision of the EPP’s Quality
Assurance System. Outside of this work, I also serve on multiple doctoral committees,
participate in Teacher Leadership professional groups across the state of Georgia,
and am involved in a number of grants, research projects, and other scholarly activities.
I hold an active Georgia teaching license with endorsements in ESOL and Reading,
as well as licensure as a Realtor in the state of Georgia.
Most importantly, I have been married to my husband Richard, a commercial airline
pilot, for almost ten years. We have two beautiful daughters, Ansley and Natalie,
who are for sure my most favorite kids of all time. Thanks to my husband’s job, we
travel often and are currently working on filling up our daughters’ National Parks
Passports! We also love visiting Walt Disney World several times a year. I feel
privileged to work with such a dedicated and talented group of faculty, staff, and
students at Columbus State. Go Cougars!
