Columbus State University offers in-state tuition to undergraduate students who live in Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee. Graduate students who live in Chambers, Lee, or Russell County, Alabama, may also qualify for in-state tuition. Who qualifies for a border state Out-of-State Tuition Waiver?
Undergraduate students may qualify if they have lived in one of Georgia’s bordering states—Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee—for at least 12 consecutive months immediately before the semester begins. Students must also meet the applicable requirements for lawful presence in the United States.
Who qualifies for the Lee, Russell or Chambers County Out-of-State Tuition Waiver?
Graduate students may qualify if they have lived in Lee, Russell, or Chambers County, Alabama, for at least 12 consecutive months immediately before the semester begins. Students must also meet the applicable requirements for lawful presence in the United States.
How do I apply for the Border State/Border County Waiver?
Complete the Border State/Border County Waiver form. Lawful presence documentation is also required and can be submitted to data_entry@columbusstate.edu.
Is supporting documentation required with the Border State Residents Waiver form?
All students must submit documentation verifying lawful presence in the United States. Additional documentation may also be requested if the information provided on the application is not sufficient to confirm the student’s residency or eligibility for the waiver.
Once I am granted the waiver, will I need to reapply?
No, once you are granted the waiver, you do not need to reapply.
