The Donald L. Jordan Center for Creative Writing

The Donald L. Jordan Center for Creative Writing supports the careers of English Majors at Columbus State University, with an emphasis on encouraging students enrolled in the creative writing program.

Donald L. Jordan

Mr. Jordan established the Donald L. Jordan Endowment at CSU in 2016, with an initial $3 million gift. He was a Columbus businessman who attended Columbus High and always wanted to be able to study creative writing, but he became responsible for his family at age 16 when his father, Cecil was diagnosed with colon cancer. Donald took over his father's hardware business, began a fence company, and then expanded the D.L. Jordan Company, offering painting, roofing, remodeling, and general contracting. From there he became a real estate developer and investor. He first published a Western novel, Trail to Lometa, published by Thomas Bouregy & Co. He also published The Creation: A Letter with Outskirts Press, and then with the same press a novel, Happy Lightning. More recently, he published the novel, Fearfully and Wonderfully Made with Negative Capability Press, and another novel with Deeds Publishing, Negative Space.
