Language Testing International (LTI)

Language Testing International (LTI) administers hundreds of thousands of tests in over 120 languages for a broad range of academic needs, including entrance, placement, and graduation requirements; program evaluation; credentialing of teachers and language professionals; and other situations specific to the needs of institutions of higher education.

The CSU Testing Center administers the LPT, RPT, and WPT Language Testing International exams. You must first consult with the Department of Society, Culture, and Languages for advising on which test or tests in a language you should take.

If it is decided that you will take either the LPT, RPT and/or WPT, then you will follow these instructions:

  1. Schedule an appointment to take the test at the CSU Testing Center. To do this, visit the exam registration page and select LTI--Language Testing International, and then choose the exam. We charge $35. Continue the scheduling process.
  2. Purchase the exam from Language Testing International by following these steps:
    • Go to https://www.languagetesting.com/
    • Select your language and click the Get Certified button.
    • Under Students/Teachers, locate Programs with ACTFL requirements, Choose Test.
    • Start typing in Columbus State University and click Continue when it populates.
    • Under the name of the test, click on Select Test. When it turns blue, click on Continue to Schedule.
    • Select Columbus State University, the time zone (eastern), and Next.
    • Complete the process.

It may ask you to select a date to test. If you have already scheduled your appointment with us, then you'll know that date. If you purchase the exam first, then select a date that is at least several weeks in advance. The date you select is when the test will expire and is not the actual date on which you will test with us.
