Dean of Students
Dear Columbus State University Students:
Welcome to Columbus State University! We’re excited to have you as part of our vibrant campus community. Your time here offers so much more than just academics, it is a chance to connect, grow, and make the most of the opportunities around you.
Getting involved in student life, whether that’s attending a concert, cheering on our athletic teams, supporting friends in a play, or joining a student organization, can make your college experience more meaningful and memorable. We encourage you to seek out those connections and build lasting friendships while developing skills that will serve you well both here at Columbus State University and long after graduation.
As an institution within the University System of Georgia, Columbus State University supports your right to freedom of expression and the tenets of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Columbus State University proudly supports your right to express yourself and share your ideas. Healthy conversations, open dialogue, and respectful debate are all vital parts of learning and community life. We hope you’ll feel empowered to engage with others, listen thoughtfully, and speak with confidence.
At the heart of our mission in the Office of the Dean of Students is a commitment to your safety and well-being. We want Columbus State University to be a place where everyone feels secure, respected, and supported. That means holding ourselves to high standards of conduct, showing civility toward one another, and being proactive when it comes to safety.
If you ever find yourself in a situation where something does not seem right, whether it is a safety concern or a fellow student in distress, we encourage you to speak up. Whether that’s calling the CSU Police, submitting a Create Care report, or participating in one of our bystander intervention programs, your actions can make a real difference.
In an emergency, please call 911 or contact CSU Police at 706-507-8911 immediately. For other concerns about someone’s behavior or well-being, the Create Care reporting tool is always available, just follow the link included in the list of services below.
Lastly, please take the time to familiarize yourself with important university policies, especially those related to the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of alcohol or illicit drugs. These policies, along with information about student rights and responsibilities, are outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
We’re here to help you succeed, academically, socially, and personally. If you have any questions or need support, do not hesitate to reach out. We are glad you are here, and we look forward to seeing all that you will contribute to our Columbus State University community.
