Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps)

Developing Tomorrow’s Army Leaders
The mission of ROTC is to educate, train, and prepare college students to become commissioned officers in the United States Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard. Through a blend of classroom instruction, hands-on leadership experience, and physical training, the program instills the values, skills, and discipline essential to leading soldiers with competence and character. ROTC aims to forge officers who are not only tactically and technically proficient, but who also embody integrity, resilience, and the ability to lead in complex environments.
Excellence Through Service and Leadership
At Columbus State University, our ROTC program plays a vital role in this mission. Consistently recognized for its professionalism and performance, our battalion takes pride in producing high-caliber leaders ready to serve at the highest levels. Most of our cadets earn active-duty commissions, while others choose to serve part-time in the Reserve or National Guard. Our cadets excel academically and contribute meaningfully to both campus life and the surrounding community. With a focus on teamwork, mentorship, and a supportive environment, the Cougar Battalion builds leaders of character who are ready to answer the nation’s call.
