About the Program

Empower others to live healthier, fuller lives. As a health science major at Columbus State, you'll examine all the factors that contribute to physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Our immersive curriculum blends theory and research with applied public health practice. As a student, you'll learn how to:

• Review and summarize current literature, develop a research question and hypotheses, select an appropriate study design, and disseminate information.
• Develop a comprehensive health education program that focuses on tobacco use prevention, cancer prevention education, diabetes education, and other health-related topics
• Identify target populations and disease states through research of current and historical disease trends

The program offers several hands-on learning opportunities through internships, community partnerships, and field experiences. As a student at CSU, you'll be encouraged to expand your qualifications by becoming a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Certification is coordinated through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.
