Responsible Conduct of Research

Responsible research conduct (RCR) is critical to good science. RCR advances scientific inquiry's goals, provides a research environment in which scientists can collaborate toward common goals and build public trust in scientific knowledge and development for the public good. In addition to RCR, RECR - responsible and ethical conduct of research - is also essential for scientific and engineering excellence as well as public trust. RECR entails not only the generation and dissemination of knowledge with rigor and integrity, but also the conduct of peer review with the highest ethical standards, the diligent protection of proprietary information and intellectual property from inappropriate disclosure, and the fair and respectful treatment of students and colleagues.
