Biography
My name is Dr. James A. Holemon Jr. I am a proud husband and father of three exceptional
children. Originally from Virginia, where I commenced my educational career, I transitioned
from the financial sector to pursue a teaching opportunity. I began as a Business
Education instructor at a high school in Virginia and later transitioned to a middle
school within the same school district.
I hold Master's degrees in Curriculum and Instruction-Teacher Leader from Regent University
and in Educational Leadership from Hampton University. My extensive educational and
teaching experience culminated in an appointment as an Assistant Principal in an elementary
school. Seeking experience in secondary education, I was fortunate to serve as an
Assistant Principal and Principal at a middle school. During my tenure as Principal,
I pursued further professional development by earning a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership
from Old Dominion University.
Throughout my doctoral program, I gained valuable insights that enhanced my leadership
abilities and significantly increased my impact on students, faculty, and the community
I served. My experience as a middle school Principal was particularly transformative,
as I cultivated lasting relationships and positively influenced the trajectories of
numerous students.
I firmly believe in lifelong learning and continuous improvement. This aspiration
to enhance my role as an educational leader led me to my current position as Director
of Leadership and Professional Development within Muscogee County School District.
I am fortunate to collaborate with each division within the district and organize
professional development opportunities. Furthermore, I plan professional development
and learning opportunities for the Aspiring Principal and Aspiring Assistant Principal
cohorts, Academic Coaches, and current Assistant Principals. This role is highly fulfilling,
as it allows me to work with school leaders and provide them with the necessary resources
to maximize student academic, emotional, and social outcomes.
