The Music Education faculty at CSU are not only teachers but also active leaders in the profession. Dr. Victoria Warnet has presented research at the international, national, state, and district levels and has been published in top-tier journals, including the Journal of Research in Music Education. She was also a GRAMMY Music Educator of the Year Nominee and recipient of the College of the Arts Researcher of the Year Award.

Dr. Michelle Folta, artistic director of the Voices of the Valley Children’s Chorus, leads a nationally recognized ensemble that has performed at GMEA, ACDA Southern Division, and internationally, with a Carnegie Hall performance upcoming in 2026. Dr. Folta is also a GRAMMY Music Educator Award Finalist and recipient of CSU’s Faculty Service Award and Columbus in the Valley’s 5 Under 40 award.

Students and alumni are consistently recognized for their excellence. Recent honors include four Teachers of the Year awards at the school level, a Top 10 Teacher of the Year in the District, and winners of the Georgia ACDA Young Director’s Award. Graduates are regularly invited to present and perform at GMEA and ACDA events.
