Earn a Bachelor of Arts in English to expand your skills in critical thinking, writing, and research skills while gaining hands-on experiences like publishing in The Arden, writing for the student newspaper, presenting at conferences, and studying abroad. With a choice of four concentrations, you can tailor your degree to fit your passions and career goals.
Customize Your Degree
Creative Writing (Concentration)
Develop your creative writing skills with a variety of genres like poetry, fiction, nonfiction and screenwriting. Further advance your craft with specialized courses and study abroad experiences preparing you as a future author.
Literature (Concentration)
Study British and American authors while diving into world literature, film, linguistics, and ethnic literature. Ideal for students interested in graduate school or professional fields like law and education.
Professional Writing (Concentration)
Prepare for your career in business and industry with courses in technical, business, news, and digital media writing. You’ll gain hands-on experience through internships and develop skills in research, writing, web design, layout, and editing.
Secondary Education (Concentration)
Get certified to teach English at the secondary level. This track also prepares you for Georgia’s ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) endorsement.
English (Minor)
Enhance any degree with a minor in English focused in one of the following tracks: Creative Writing, Linguistics, Literature or Professional Writing.
