Biographical Note

Mrs. James L. Mitchell lived at 931 Oak Street in Columbia, South Carolina when she received this letter in August of 1935.

Scope and Content

This collection consists of one letter (with partial envelop) addressed to Mrs. James L. Mitchell and a photograph, possibly unrelated to the letter.

The letter opens with "Ruth" and invites her to take advantage of "some low RR rates" and come visit. The return address is 806 Lift Ave SW (in Atlanta, Georgia) and the envelope bears the name of the Atlanta Terminal Company. The name of the sender is damaged and illegible.

The photograph is of the LaDelle Apartments at the corner of 13th St and 18th AV in Columbus, Georgia. The front of the photo has a note, "This shows half of the structure" and an arrow pointing to a window saying "us.."
