Biographical Note

Mrs. Walter A. Richards was the wife of Walter Alan Richards. She was the former Margaret Gordon, born in Columbus on Nov. 4, 1895 and died in August 1970. She married Richards on Dec. 22, 1917. She attended Lorena Hall, a girls' school in Columbus, Georgia, the Lucy Cobb Institute in Athens, Georgia and Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia. The antebellum Greek revival mansion "Gordonido" on Wynnton Road was owned by Mrs. Richards' parents and had been built in 1837. The Richards lived there as did their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Feighner.

Scope and Content

This small collection consists of one folder containing a spiral bound "family story" titled "Our Gran was Grand!" It was written for her grandchildren and great grandchildren to remember their grandmother by, with smiles and laughter -- because she told these tales on herself.

1960s 1 folder (.1 l.f.)
