Historical Note

The Wynnton neighborhoods of Overlook, Wynn's Hill, and Oak Circle were listed in the National Register of Historic places on May 10, 2005. This area off Wynnton Road in Columbus, Georgia is roughly bounded by Bradley Drive, Buena Vista Road, Overlook Avenue, Crest Drive, and Oakview Avenue. There are a total of 166 contributing buildings in this neighborhood. The district is located in an area of predominately historic residential developments that were known as Wynnton before its incorporation into the Columbus city limits in 1925. The area is an early mid-20th century Columbus neighborhood that was developed from earlier mid-19th century estates. The house styles exhibited are excellent examples of types and styles built primarily between 1920 and 1955.
