Biographical Note

Elizabeth Lane Whitaker was born August 7, 1851 in Russell County, Alabama and died there April 11, 1903. She married Frank LeConte Nisbet, Sr. (1848-1919) on October 27, 1875, also in Russell County, Alabama.

Scope and Content

She kept this diary from December of 1869 to January of 1875. Besides recording news of the day, such as the death of Charles Dickens, and numerous aphorisms, she noted the weather, visits made and received, and her views on life. December, 1869-January, 1875 1 reel of microfilm (.3 l.f.)
