Residence Life Academic Initiative
Our mission is to provide a wide variety of programs and services to enhance the academic experience and pursuits of students living on-campus.
The initiatives include study spaces, faculty engagement and involvement, academic achievement events, residential tutoring, and strategies for employable skills that support residents. We strive to provide resources and a focus on academics that you will not find by living off-campus.
Residential Tutoring
The Residential Tutoring program is designed to provide academic services for students living on-campus at Columbus State University. Residential Tutoring is a completely free service provided for all on-campus students during convenient hours and close to home.
Tutoring is offered starting the second week of classes each semester in:
Clearview Conference Room from 5:00 – 9:00pm, (2 days a week TBD)
This service is provided through a partnership between the Department of Residence Life and the Academic Center for Tutoring (ACT). There are frequently tutors available upon request to assist with a variety courses, so feel free to stop in and ask!
Residential tutoring is open to current housing residents with a valid student ID.
Academic Skills Programs
Residence Life offers bi-weekly topic-based presentations that are meant to develop or expose residents to new study skills and techniques. Sessions include: time management, writing an "A" paper, learning styles, employable skills, QEP (real life problem solving), and more! Check your email for information.
