Biography

Cortney coordinates and teaches several of the nine LEAD courses that serve as the academic foundation of the undergraduate Servant Leadership Program at Columbus State University. She also works collaboratively with other departments at Columbus State to ensure that servant leadership is present in its student leadership initiatives and oversees the operations of the Care Services Program, which includes the state-wide Embark Program and the Food Pantry at CSU.

Before returning to Columbus State as the Assistant Director of the Servant Leadership Program in December 2017, Cortney was the Servant Leadership Program Coordinator at Brookstone School.

Cortney is actively engaged in the CSU campus community, currently serving on the executive committee of the Athletic Fund's board of directors and previously serving on the Alumni Association board. In the broader Columbus, Georgia community, Cortney has served on the steering committees of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley and the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals. She is a graduate of Leadership Columbus (Class of 2017), was recognized as one of Columbus and the Valley magazine’s “5 Under Forty” in 2021, and was selected for GeorgiaForward’s Young Gamechangers program in 2023.

Cortney is a proud alumna of the undergraduate Servant Leadership Program at CSU as well as the graduate program that has a concentration in Servant Leadership.
