Tushaar Power

Biography

Dr. Tushaar Power is from London, England. His fascination with American popular music led to him study at Berklee College of Music in Boston where he earned a BM in Professional Music. He pursued further studies in Early Music and earned an M.A. in Music History at the University of California at Riverside. An interest in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach prompted further graduate study and he completed his Ph.D. in Musicology at Duke University. More recently, Dr. Power is revisiting and researching American and Anglo-European popular music styles of the twentieth century and he enjoys making music making music on the bass guitar, extended tenor guitar and mandolin. His interests in world and early musics music have led to studies on the Lute - Guitar, Ukulele, Charango, Cuatro and other exotic plucked string instruments. He directs an Early Music Recorder Consort which provides Renaissance and Baroque music at local venues.
