Biography

My name is Chandler Padgett. I was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia. I am a double alumnus of Columbus State University (CSU); obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in May 2016 (while playing collegiate softball) and a Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN, FNP) degree in May 2019. Upon graduation, I began working clinically as a FNP in both the hospital and hospice setting, while teaching full-time in the Undergraduate Nursing Program at CSU. While being employed as a full-time educator and a part-time FNP in the hospital and aesthetic settings, I concurrently obtained a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Georgia State University in May 2022.

I am an Assistant Nursing Professor in the School of Nursing (SON) at CSU. I taught for four years in the Undergraduate Nursing Program and currently teach in the Graduate Nursing (MSN, FNP) Program within the SON at CSU. In 2020, I am so grateful to have been awarded Outstanding Teacher at CSU and award recipient of the 2021 CSU Excellence in Teaching Award. In 2023, I was nominated for the Teaching Excellence Award on the University level and humbly received the Honors College Award for Outstanding Mentorship. I currently serve on the University Internal Review Board, Study Abroad Committee, IDEA Committee, College of Education and Health Professions (COEHP) Curriculum Committee, COEHP Graduate Council, COEHP Honors Education Committee, and Chair the Graduate Curriculum Committee at CSU. I am so thankful to have recently been nominated and appointed to serve on the University Strategic Planning Committee.

Within the community, I actively serve as a member of United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (UAPRN) of West Georgia, Georgia Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, and as the Legislative Chair for National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) of Georgia. I am so thankful to have recently been appointed to the Board of Family and Children Services by Columbus City Council to serve the Columbus community. Recently, I humbly received the NAPNAP Advocacy Scholar Award; allowing the opportunity to advocate to congressional elected officials in Washington, D.C. on November 6th. I am so grateful to have recently spearheaded an Elected Official Luncheon through UAPRN; thereafter, Columbus City Council unanimously voted in support of proposed legislation that will be presented during the 2024 Legislative Session to Georgia General Assembly members; if passed, this will allow an increase in access to care and enhance the quality of care for Georgia residents.
