Biography

Ellen H. Martin is an Associate Professor of Physical Education at Columbus State University where she serves as the program coordinator of the Health and Physical Education Program. She received her Ph.D. from Auburn University, M.S. from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and her B.S. from Troy State University. She served for several years as the Bookmark editor for the journal Teaching Elementary Physical Education and has published work in the Journal of Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy, Journal of Curriculum Studies, and Journal of Physical Education Recreation and Dance. She co-authored the textbook, Teaching Elementary Physical Education: Strategies for the Classroom Teacher and has consistently presented at national and regional conferences. She has served as an Executive Office of the Faculty Senate, President of the CSU Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, and a member of the Board of Examiners for the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. She was a nominee for the CSU Faculty Service Award in 2017. She continues to be actively involved with local school systems in various service related activities.
