Dr. Zewdu Gebeyehu is a professor of chemistry at CSU. He earned his BS in 1980 and MS in 1983 from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, his native country. After completing his MS, he served as a Senior Lecturer at Alemaya University, Ethiopia from 1983 to 1987. Gebeyehu earned The German Academic Exchange Program (DAAD) scholarship (1987-1991) and studied at Philipps University, Marburg, West Germany and earned his Ph.D in Inorganic/Analytical Chemistry. In April 1991, he came to the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign as post-doctoral fellow and joined Professor Pat Shapley's research group. His Ph.D and postdoc research focused in the synthesis and characterization of transition metal complexes possessing metal-nitrogen multiple bonds. Dr. Gebeyehu joined Tuskegee University as Assistant Professor in August 1992 and worked till he moved to Columbus State University in 2002. At both Tuskegee and Columbus State Universities, he taught general, inorganic, analytical and environmental chemistry courses and served as research advisor to several undergraduate students and two MS students. His research results are published in several refereed chemistry journals. In the 2013/2014 academic year, Dr. Gebeyehu received the Fulbright Scholars Award and went to Ethiopia to teach at the Department of Chemistry, Addis Ababa University.
