Biography
Emily Budd holds a MEd. in Theatre Education from Columbus State University, a MM in Vocal Performance from Georgia State University, and a BM in vocal performance from Valdosta State University. Ms. Budd has 20 years of professional acting experience as a crossover performer in theatre, improv comedy, cabaret, and opera, as well as 20 years of experience teaching voice. In New York, she performed with companies such as One World Symphony, Dell‘Arte Opera, New York Lyric Opera, Upright Citizens Brigade, and The Duplex Theatre where she self produced an original sketch comedy cabaret series “Craigslist Chronicles”.
In the Atlanta area, Ms. Budd has performed with The Atlanta Lyric Theatre, ART Station, Serenbe Playhouse and The Atlanta Opera. Emily toured Italy performing with La Musica Lirica in the role of La Virtu in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea. Regional theatre credits include: Maria in The Sound of Music, Rose in Meet Me in St. Louis, Jenny Lind in Barnum, Cindy Lou in Marvelous Wonderettes, Charlotte Cardoza in Titanic, and Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods.
She has taught and stage directed as a Teaching Artist at American Stage Theatre in Florida, and as Director of Education at Serenbe Playhouse in Atlanta. As adjunct professor at LaGrange College, where she taught musical theatre and applied voice, she wrote and directed an original sketch comedy cabaret for students: Phobia Follies. Ms. Budd received a Shuler nomination for her choreography in Legally Blonde at Landmark Christian School, and has directed Region winning One Act productions in both GISA and GHSA Schools.
