Biography

Melissa Avanesian is a seasoned Strength and Conditioning Coach and athlete who aims to inspire students at Columbus State University with her passion for strength training, fitness education, and personal development. With over a decade of coaching experience, she believes in the transformative power of perseverance and dedication. She has seen people from all walks of life overcome a lifetime of battles with fitness and persevere, so she truly believes that everyone is capable of achieving greater things.

In the classroom, Melissa encourages students to challenge their limits, embrace learning, and develop the skills necessary to be successful at everything they attempt. She aims to motivate and inspire those she teaches by fostering confidence and resilience, helping students grow stronger—both mentally and physically.

Her personal philosophy is, “With practice, you can be good at anything, and with consistency, you can be great.”

When she’s not coaching or teaching, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and learning new things.

Fun fact—she can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under 3 minutes!
