Carlton M. & Constance Johnson Scholarship Purpose
Undergraduates/Graduates – Biology, Chemistry, ESS, English, Geography
For full-time students at Columbus State University interested in the environment, whether working and studying in the field or writing about environmental issues.
Funds may be used to cover tuition, fees, textbooks, room and board and other reasonable costs associated with obtaining a degree.

- Submit the online application (including a 200-word written statement) between Oct 1 and Feb 15.
- Be accepted as a regularly admitted full-time student to Columbus State University, in any major.
- Demonstrate academic and leadership potential:
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Upload a short letter of support (from a professor, pastor, employer, mentor, etc.) that addresses your leadership potential (1 page maximum).
Preference will be given to students who are interested in environmental science.

COLS Summer Scholarship Purpose
Juniors/Seniors – summer classes
For College of Letters and Sciences' students with financial need entering their junior or senior year at CSU who plan to take at least one summer course.
Funds may be used to cover tuition, textbooks, room and board and other reasonable costs associated with obtaining a degree.
Award Amount
$1,000, to help cover the cost of tuition and fees for one course during the upcoming summer term.

Eligibility Requirements
Students who meet the following criteria will be contacted in January with application instructions:
- COLS major
- Overall GPA 2.5-2.99
- Completed at least 60 credit hours
- Completed FAFSA by March 13
- EFC ≤$8,000
- Meeting Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Guidelines
- Enrolled in at least one summer course
Submit the online application (including a 250-word statement of need) between Oct 1 and Feb 15.
Students may only receive this scholarship one time

Georgia Power Foundation Scholarship Purpose
STEM undergraduates – Biology, Chemistry, ESS, Math
For full-time undergraduate students majoring in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) field or in a program within the Turner College of Business at Columbus State University.
Funds may be used to cover tuition, textbooks, room and board and other reasonable costs associated with obtaining a degree.
Award Amount
$1,000 each to two students, one from the College of Letters and Sciences and one from the Turner College of Business, for one year (fall semester).

Hart Family Scholarship Purpose
Undergraduates – any COLS major
For full-time undergraduate students pursuing a degree in the College of Letters and Sciences at CSU.
Funds may be used to cover tuition, textbooks, room and board and other reasonable costs associated with obtaining a degree.
Award Amount
$2,025 for one year ($1,012.50/semester); 4 students awarded per year; awardees may re-apply each year.

For undergraduate students at Columbus State University pursuing a degree in the natural sciences.
Funds may be used to cover tuition, textbooks, room and board and other reasonable costs associated with obtaining a degree.

Terry Irvin Book Scholarship Purpose
Learning Support students (females)
To provide financial support for non-traditional students (adult learners, age 23 or older) across all disciplines at Columbus State University who require learning support courses in one area (math or English).
Funds are to be used for book expenses.

The Yarber-Allen Endowed Scholarship Purpose
The Yarber-Allen Endowed Scholarship has been established to assist rising sophomores and juniors at CSU in the College of Letters and Sciences with funds that may be used to cover tuition, textbooks, room and board and other reasonable costs associated with obtaining a degree.
Award Amount
$1,000 each to two students for one academic year ($500/semester).
Eligibility Requirements
- Submit the online application (including a 250-word statement of need) between October 1 and February 15.
- Be accepted as a regularly admitted, full-time student to Columbus State University.
- Be a rising Sophomore or Junior student pursuing a degree in a discipline in the College of Letters and Sciences (*see list of relevant disciplines below).
- Be a first-generation college student and/or student from a single-parent household.
- Exhibit a financial need, as determined by CSU's Office of Financial Aid, based on information provided on Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Selection Process
Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the College of Letters and Sciences Scholarship Committee, which will make recommendations to the COLS Dean for the final selection.
Once awardees have been selected, scholarships will be awarded by the Office of Financial Aid.
Students awarded scholarships in their sophomore year will be eligible to receive the scholarship in their junior year, provided they maintain a 3.0 GPA and continue pursuing a major within the College of Letters and Sciences.
Scholarship recipient(s) shall be known as the YARBER-ALLEN SCHOLARS.
