June 16th, 2020 - New Academic Calendar for Fall 2020

The Academic Calendar Committee and Deans' Council met to discuss the modification of the Fall 2020 academic calendar so that courses end before Thanksgiving and final exams are delivered in an online format. The reasoning behind this adjustment is to minimize the possible spread of the virus through students going home for the Thanksgiving holidays and returning to campus for a few classes and then final exams.

The attached revised calendar was submitted to the USG and is now approved to move forward. The new calendar (PDF) is posted on the website. The major changes to the calendar include:

  • Eliminate the fall break on October 9.
  • End classes on Monday, November 23 for the full semester and November 24 for the second half semester.
  • Move Study Day to Monday, November 30 from Thursday, December 3
  • Start Final Exams (online) on Tuesday, December 1 and continue through Saturday, December 5 instead of December 5-10.
  • Move the graduate hooding ceremony and commencement to December 10-12 from December 17-19.
