April 16, 2020 - Message from President Markwood

Hello,

As we manage through this pandemic where it seems that virtually everything has changed, there are two things that have not: We focus on educating and caring for our students and we focus on recruiting new students to become part of our campus family. The Create Care task force is reaching out to students every week. Enrollment Services is developing new strategies to recruit students in an environment that has fundamentally changed.

I hear inspiring stories every day. In addition to our staff members participating in the Create Care calling, our faculty members are going above and beyond to stay connected with our students. From virtual lessons on the violin to a faculty member cooking for some students to give them a taste of home, they are rising to this challenge. I am pleased with the efforts across our virtual campus with real life examples of what it means to be a student-centered campus - to address the concerns of our students both inside and outside of the classroom.

As we are dealing with this very serious health crisis, we should also take the time to share and participate in the positive things going on across our campus community. Please join me in a very special CSU Spirit Day on Friday by wishing Cody a Happy Birthday by posting a picture or video of you and Cody on your social media pages and adding the hashtag #CSUVirtualSpiritDay.

Thank you for your teamwork during this stressful time, and your commitment to keep educating our students, protecting our campus community, and lifting each other up.

Thank you for all you do for our students, our community, and each other.
